NIKE ROSHE ONE FLYKNIT ‘PRM’

Roshe PRM-23
Nike takes the Roshe One into whole new territory with this luxe tonal iteration, by simply combining the Flyknit upper with a leather vamp. But in a world obsessed with clean white sneakers, where do these stand? Read on to find out.

Light, comfortable and breathable, the Roshe Run is a must-have silhouette for the summer months whether you are a sneakerhead or not. Nike has reimagined Dylan Raasch’s modern classic silhouette in a wide variety of iterations already, and somehow they’ve come up with yet another one. The ‘PRM’ suffix here stands for premium, and boy do they live up to that tag.

Outfitted with matching round laces, a tonal swoosh embossed leather panel takes over the vamp. This makes a huge difference to the shoe, adding some stiffness while breaking the Flyknit pattern nicely.

The Free-inspired natural motion midsole is retained in white, and it is as responsive and comfortable as ever.

The diamond textured heel counter (a la the Kyrie 1) is a nice detail, ensuring that the PRM looks great from behind too. Note the handy heel tabs in matching black.

And here it is next to the original Flyknit Roshe. While the toe box, tongue and sole are exactly the same, that is where the similarities end. The added leather panel and the heel counter give the PRM a sleeker and more contemporary appearance.

A few special consumers got the shoes in these dope embroidered mesh drawstring bags. Great for travel!

Subtle white highlights play across the Flyknit upper, lending some contrast to the overall murdered out look this shoe has. So, like all Flyknit shoes, the upper isn’t really a single color, because of the way Flyknit appears to change color when viewed from different angles. Flyknit is basically yarn that is woven into a one piece upper at the fiber level, thereby eliminating any overlays and seams, giving engineers the ability to tune support, stiffness and breathability in any part of the shoe by using different fibers, while reducing waste material by almost 80%. Put simply, this means that this shoe is as light and breathable as can be.

The Roshe PRM in this colorway is a great way to wear black this season without going into Rick Owens territory, while keeping your feet light, breezy and looking fresh. A streetwear staple, Roshes look great when paired with cuffed joggers like the Nike Tech Fleece joggers I have on here.
So forget your all-white retro tennis shoes, and embrace the dark side of innovation.
The Nike Roshe One Flyknit PRM is available on Myntra. You can also pick these up offline at select Nike stores: Linking Road, Colaba (Mumbai), Select City Saket (Delhi), and Brigade Road (Bangalore).
